The Riverford box scheme began when Guy Watson started delivering vegetables locally to 30 friends in Devon. The launch of the company coincided with the public’s increased interest in, and awareness of the provenance of food. Even during a period of recession, it has continued to be important for many that the food that they are serving for their families is the best possible in terms of quality and freshness. Consequently Riverford now delivers around 47,000 boxes a week to homes around the UK from their regional farms regional farms.
Each box comprises of a selection of the finest organic vegetables and customers can also choose a meatbox with joints and cuts of meat to serve a family for two weeks, or even a recipe box which includes everything required to make three tasty organic meals. Inside each box, there is the freshest, seasonal organic produce, step-by-step recipe cards and all the ingredients in exact quantities.
As well as their box scheme, Riverford Organic also have a greatly acclaimed restaurant, known as The Riverford Field Kitchen. When the company decided to take the Field Restaurant “on tour” around ten locations in the UK they realised that temporary kitchen hire was going to be an important consideration as they would need a portable kitchen . Consequently they contacted us about our range of mobile kitchens and walk in fridges to see whether our temporary kitchens would be able to help them provide the very high levels of excellence that their customers had come to expect. Needless to say we were able to meet their needs and to provide them with a portable kitchen that we moved from venue to venue and enabled them to set up their restaurant and cater for lots of satisfied customers at each place!
