In early 2014 Katy Brill, an entrepreneurial freelance chef approached us about a new project she was looking at getting off the ground. With a very wide range of culinary expertise from fine dining to relaxed BBQ’s in locations varying from the Mediterranean to shooting lodges in the Scottish Highlands, she had decided that it was time to stop travelling and to move closer to home. The family run a Pick your Own farm with an established farm shop and she decided to develop that even further by setting up a cafe in a yurt. The café would specialise in home cooked produce and was designed to appeal to those who were interested in the provenance of food and were either already visiting the farm shop, or would be likely to do so once the promtotion and marketing for the new café had started. To make this new venture a success one of the most important requirements alongside the yurt would be a portable kitchen which was where we became involved. After several meetings and site visits one of our mobile kitchens was on its way to the farm in Buckinghamshire.
The Wild Strawberry Cafe has been set up with a country kitchen feel to it and has been a great success, people have travelled from far a field to sample the homemade delights on the menu and many rave reviews have been left on “Tripadvisor” giving them a 5 star rating. We continue to wish Katy all the very best with this project and are pleased to be working with her on it.
